Elon Musk’s Tesla Electric Car Sales Soar
Elon Musk’s Tesla stunned experts by selling 241,300 electric cars in the United States, a total of 102,000 more than in the same quarter last year.
This is the most Tesla has ever sold in a quarter. The company sold 367,500 in 2019.
Despite the broader downward trend in sales caused by the global chip shortage, Tesla was once again able to deliver more vehicles despite major automakers seeing huge declines in the last quarter.
General Motors, the largest automaker in the United States, said Friday morning that it sold just 446,997 vehicles in the third quarter, a 33% drop from the same period last year.
Tesla avoided similar problems in part because it sourced different semiconductors and rewrote software on the fly to make these chips work in place of ones that are not currently available.
“Our number of deliveries should be considered slightly conservative, as we only count a car as delivered if it is handed over to the customer and all documents are correct. Final figures could vary by up to 0.5% or more, ”the company said in a statement.
Strong sales of Tesla cars in China
Beyond that, the company continues to have strong sales in China, where it began manufacturing and selling vehicles in early 2020. The Model Y SUV has also become a popular option in the United States, and Tesla has just started selling them in Europe as well.
Tesla’s website still says its headquarters are in Palo Alto, California, but Elon Musk moved to Texas last year and the company is building a new plant in the Austin area.
Electric vehicle maker Elon Musk now produces cars at its Shanghai plant and US plant in Fremont, Calif., While continuing to produce batteries nationally with Panasonic at their sprawling plant outside of Reno. , in Nevada.
During the period ending September 30, 2021, Tesla began shipping lithium iron phosphate batteries from China for use in Model 3 vehicles manufactured for customers in the United States.
Tesla has also temporarily suspended some operations at its vehicle assembly plant in Shanghai, where it manufactures cars for customers in China and Europe. The shutdowns were attributed to a global semiconductor shortage, which challenged Tesla year-round and affected the entire auto industry.
Tesla also plans to hold its annual meeting of shareholders at its plant, currently under construction, near Austin on October 7. Musk previously threatened to move Tesla’s headquarters out of California in the spring of 2020 when state health orders related to Covid demanded Tesla’s Fremont. plant to temporarily suspend operations for a few weeks.
At the time, California Governor Gavin Newsom told CNBC he was “not worried about Elon leaving anytime soon,” and expressed his support for Tesla.
Electric car sales in Norway increased by almost 80%
Reuters reports that demand for midsize models from Tesla Inc has helped push electric car sales in Norway to nearly 80% of total car sales last month, data showed on Friday.
The country has been a global leader in the switch to electric vehicles and seeks to become the first to end the sale of gasoline and diesel engines by 2025.
Battery-electric vehicles made up 77.5% of all new cars in September, the Norwegian Road Federation (OFV) said, up from 61.5% a year ago.
Tesla Model Y, a compact sport utility vehicle, was the best-selling vehicle with 19.8% of the car market, followed by the company’s Model 3 sedan with 12.3%.
Tesla launches in Greece
Eon Musk is now looking to expand its business to Tesla, Inc. in Greece, with the pioneering company already looking to hire staff in order to gain a solid foothold in the country.
This promising new development follows the announcement by the Greek government that a new set of measures will be implemented to further improve the use of electric vehicles. Protocols for this incentive include grants for the purchase of electric vehicles, including cars and bicycles.
Tesla’s renewed involvement with Greece is a continuation of other encouraging developments in recent years, the company having forged links with the country as early as 2018, with a research center based in Democritus developed during this period. .
