Reliance Industries scraps electronics manufacturing unit in Tirupati

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) returned the land allocated for the establishment of an electronics manufacturing unit near Tirupati to the State Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC). The company has withdrawn a proposal to set up a set-top box and dongle manufacturing unit with an investment of Rs 15,000 crore.

Claiming that there was no need for the company to establish an electronics manufacturing plant under the current circumstances, Reliance Industries canceled the proposal and turned over all of the land to AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), said the responsibles.

Officials from the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation confirmed that Reliance had returned the land. An official said the government must now return the amount deposited for the land. The previous government of Chandrababu Naidu allocated 136 acres to Reliance‌. Jagan’s government turned over 75 acres of land.
